How do I ensure my debit or credit card transactions are approved while traveling for the holidays?

To ensure your debit card or credit card purchases are approved while traveling, please notify the credit union of your travel plans by sending a secure message through our Online Banking Message Center. After logging into Online Banking, you can locate the Message Center in the upper right-hand corner.

Please include the following information in your message:

  1. If traveling within the United States, include the city and state
  2. If traveling outside the United States, include the country
  3. Travel dates
  4. Debit and/or credit cards being used
  5. Contact information while traveling, including your email, cell phone, relative's phone number

If you are not registered for Online Banking, you may stop by any of our branches to complete the Travel Notice form and submit a clear copy of your driver's license.

A Message From The President!

As the fourth quarter of the year is upon us, I write this last President's Message as President/CEO of South Florida Federal Credit Union with an abundance of emotions!

As I am sure you are aware, South Florida Federal Credit Union recently merged with Guardians Credit Union to become South Florida FCU, A Division of Guardians Credit Union. We have come a long way in my 35 years as President/CEO and I am proud to say we are definitely leaving a legacy!

For all these years, we have been the "little engine that could" credit union and defied many odds. Throughout every step of the way, our credit union has been thinking outside the box to offer our members products and services that only the big banks had, while keeping to our core credit union philosophy of people helping people. We know most of our members by name and have been honored to be with you throughout every stage of your lives.

And, in true SFFCU fashion, we continued to think outside the box until the end! From the beginning, we have not thought of this next step as a merger, but more so a partnership with Guardians Credit Union. This is the first merger of its kind in the state of Florida, as SFFCU will keep its brand and identity and will function as a division of Guardians Credit Union, not be absorbed by Guardians Credit Union. So, rest assured you will continue to see that pink palm tree you've come to know and love!

While I will be stepping down as President/CEO of South Florida Federal Credit Union, you will continue to see me at the branch, as I will stay onboard in a different capacity.

What a truly wonderful way to end 2019! Be on the lookout for your official welcome kit from Guardians that will offer valuable information about your account, enhanced products and services and updated disclosures. We eagerly look forward to what the next decade has in store for SFFCU!

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our staff, thank you for your continued support and for thinking of SFFCU first when it comes to your financial needs. As always, we appreciate your membership and the opportunity to serve you!

Wishing you and your loved ones the happiest of holidays!

Yours in service,
Maggie L. Martinez
